Dinan is a very old city and was located on the
Rance River because it is a key location between Normandy and Brittany. Built on a hill, the city overlooks the
Rance River and has the remains of a number of fortified ramparts. The city can boasts of having
many historic buildings, many which can be traced back to the early 1200s.
